Phra Prang Sam Yod, พระปรางค์สามยอด, is located in Tambon Tha Hin, Amphoe Mueang Lopburi, Chang Wat Lopburi, Thailand. Phra Prang Sam Yod is located on the earth mound adjacent to Phra Karn Shrine. There are 3 prangs located in a row arrangement with an access connecting them together. This ancient site represents the Bayon Style of art that existed around the 18th Buddhist Century. The prangs were built of laterite and sandstone and decorated with stucco in beautiful style. At the entrance there was once a lintel of which only one of the poles remains. It was carved in the pattern of an ascetic sitting with his knees up. The ascetic is in the Tuon Kew arc. This is a signaature style of the Bayon type of Khmer art. There is a base where once stood an image in the middle prang. The roof which is built of wood was painted with red color in a flower design. In front of the prang in the east, there is a brick Wihara (Wihan). Presumably, this Wihara was built during the reign of King Narai the Great because the doors and windows are built in a curved arch. This is an architectural style of typical of this period. Inside the brick Wihara, there is a sandstone Buddha image in Marnvichai style. This Marnvichai Buddha image is still in good condition. It is a typical style of the early Ayutthaya period of art from around the 20th Buddhist Century. It is assumed that the purpose of building Prang Sam Yod was to serve Buddhist Mahayana. The middle prang houses a Buddha image with a Naga overhead. The prang to the right houses a stone Bodhissativa (Avalokithesavara) in Bayon Style. The prang to the left houses the figure of the Bodhisativa Phra Pratchata-Paramita or Panya-Baramisakti. The Fine Arts Department acclaimed and registered this ancient site on the 2nd August 1936. ปรางค์ามยอดตั้งอยู่บนเนินดินใกล้กับศาลพระกาฬลักษณะเป็นปราสาทเรียงต่อกัน ๓ องค์ มีฉนวนทางเดินเชี่อมต่อกัน ปรางค์สามยอดเป็นศิลปะแบบบายนซึ่งมีอายุราวพุทธศวรรษที่ ๑๘ สร้างด้วยศิลาแลง หินทราย และตกแต่งด้วยลวดลายปูนปั้นที่สวยงาม ที่ซู้มประตูจะมีเสาประดับกรอบประตูแกะสลักในรูปฤาษีนั่งชันเขาในซุ้มเรีอนแก้วซึ่งเป็นแบบที่นิยมของเสาประดับกรอบประตูศิลปะแบบบายน ที่ปราสาทองค์กลางมีเพดานไม้ซึ่งเขียนสีแดงเป็นลวดลายรูปดอกไม้สมัยอยุธยา ตรงหน้าปราสาทองค์กลาง ทางทิศตะวันออกมีวิหารอิฐซึ่งคงได้สร้างขึ้นในสมัยของสมเด็จพระบารายณ์มหาราช จากประตูและหน้าต่างเป็นวงโค้งแบบที่นิยมทำกันมาในรัชสมัยนี้ ภายในวิหารอิฐมีพระพุทธรูปหินทรายปางมารวิชัยที่ยังสมบูรณ์ดี เป็นศิลปะแบบสมัยอยุธยาตอนต้นอายุราวพุทธศตสรรษที่ ๒๐ ปรางค์ามยอดนี้มีผู้สันนิษฐานว่าสร้างขึ้นเมืองในพระพุทธศาสนาลัทธิมหายาน ปราสาทองค์กลางประดิษฐานพระพุืธรูปนาคปรก ปราสาทองค์ทิศใต้ประดิษฐานรูปโพธิสัตว์อวโลเตศวร ปราสาทองค์ทิศเหนือประดิษฐานรูปนางปรัชญาปารมิตาหรือนางปัญญดิ์ของพระโพธิสัตว์อวโลกิเตศวร กรมศิลปากร ประกาศขึ้นทะเบียนโบราณสถาน เนี่อวันที่ ๒ สิงหาคม พ.ศ. ๒๔๗๙ ประกาศกำหนดเขตที่ดินโบราณสถานเมื่อวันที่ ๔ ธันวาคน พ.ศ. ๒๕๔๕ Wikimapia location |
