2006 Photograph, Viceroy Butterfly (Limenitis archippus, Brush-footed Butterfly Family Nymphalidae) on Common Milkweed, Occoquan Bay NWR, Woodbridge, Virginia, © 2018.
This butterfly is a Batesian mimic of the foul tasting Monarch Butterfly and is usually seen sitting on leaves instead of flowers.
