Wat Thatkhao, วัดธาตุขาว, is located in Wiang Kum Kam, Tambon Tha Wang Tan, Saraphi District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. วัดธาตุขาว เวียงกุมกามตำบลท่าวังตาลอำเภอสารภีจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ประเทศไทย From an historical marker at the site: The local people, referring to the "White Chedi", which must have earlier been coated with lime, have given the name "Thatkhao" to this temple. The Department of Fine Arts started the excavation of the temple in 1985 and found a Vihara (Wihan) in front of the Chedi. Behind the Chedi was a worship alter. The building faced the northeast. To the south of the Vihara, ruins of a building were found and it is speculated that this was a rite pavilion (Ubosot). Behind this building, parts of a Buddha image were found. This Buddha image would have been made of brick and coated with lime. The present main Buddha image of the temple has been contributed by the local people; it does not contain any of the parts from the old one. Also found were Fak Kham alphabet tablets dated to the 16th century A.D., and Hariphunchai-style Buddha amulets dated to the 15th century A.D.; the latter must have been brought here at a later date. The excavation and restoration of this temple was finished in 1986. A wall was found behind the Chedi. This temple must have been another large temple in Wiang Kum Kam, complete with other religious buildings. However the excavation work cannot be continued due to conflicts over land ownership. From its architecture, it can be assumed that this temple was built around the 16th-17th centuries A.D. ธาตุขาว เป็นชื่อเรียกตามคนท้องถิ่น หมายถึงเจดีย์สีขาว ซึ่งคงจะมาจากสีขาวของปูนฉาบเมื่อครั้งที่เจดีย์ยังคงสภาพดีอยู่ กรมศิลปากรเข้าดำเนินงานขุดแต่งเมื่อปื พ.ศ.๒๕๒๘ พบวิหารอยู่ด้านหน้าของเจดีย์ ถัดไปทางด้านหลังของเจีย์เป็นแท่นบูชา วัดนี้หันหน้าไปทางทิศตะวันออกเฉยงเหนือ ทางด้านทิศใต้ของวิหารพบซากฐานอาคาร สันนิษฐานว่าเป็นอุโบสถ ด้านหลังของอุโบสถพบชิ้นส่วนขององค์พระพุทธรูปสร้างจากอิฐหุ้มด้วยปูนขาว สำหรับพระพทธรูปองค์ปัจจุบันเป็นพระพุทธรูปที่สร้างขึ้นใหทม่โดยศริทธาชาวบ้าน โดยมีชิ้นส่วนของพระพุทธรูปองค์มประกอบอยู่ด้วย นอกจากนี้ยังพบจารึกอักษรฝักขาม อายุราวพุทธศตวรรษที่ ๒๑ และพระพิมพ์แบบหริภุณไชยอายุราวพระพุทธศตวรรษที่ ๑๘ ตอนปลาย ซึ่งน่าจะนำเข้ามาในระยะหลัง โบราณสถานแห่งนี้ยูรณะแล้วในปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๒๙ จากการสำรวจโดยรอบบริเวณพบราองรอยของกำแพงแก้วอยู่ด้านหลังขององค์เจดีย์ ดังนี้นวัดนี้จึงมีองค์ประกอบทางสถาปัตยกรรมอื่น ๆ อีกและน่าจะเป็นวัดอีกแห่งหนึ่งในเวียงกุมกามที่นีขนาดใหญ่มาก แต่ยังไน่สามารถขุดแต่งขยายเพิ่มเติมออกไปได้อีกเนื่องจากปัญหารื่องกรรมสิทธิ์ที่ดิน พิจารณาจากรูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรม สันนิษฐานว่าวัดนี้สร้างขึ้นประมาณพุทธศตวรรษที่ ๒๑-๒๒ Wikimapia location Wikipedia article |
