Wiang Kum Kam, เวียงกุมกาม, is an ancient city located in Saraphi District in the northern region of Thailand, south of the southeastern corner of Chiang Mai's city center. According to the chronicles and archaeological evidence, the old city was built by King Mangrai around the latter part of the 13th century. See the Wipipedia article link below for more details. เวียงกุมกาม เป็นอดีตเมืองหลวงของอาณาจักรล้านนา ที่พญามังรายโปรดให้สร้างขึ้นเมื่อ พ.ศ. 1829 โดยโปรดให้ขุดคูเวียงทั้ง 4 ด้าน ไขน้ำแม่ปิงให้ขังไว้ ในคูเมืองโบราณสถานที่ปรากฏอยู่ในเวียงกุมกามและใกล้เคียง เป็นเวียง (เมือง) ทดลองที่สร้างขึ้น ก่อนที่จะมาเป็นเมืองเชียงใหม่ ตั้งอยู่ที่ ตำบลท่าวังตาล อำเภอสารภี จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ โดยมีระยะห่างจากตัวเมืองเชียงใหม่ไปทางทิศตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ประมาณ 5 กิโลเมตร Wikipedia article Wikimapia location
