2015 Photograph, Erect Dayflower (Commelina erecta, Spiderwort family, Commelinaceae), Occoquan Bay NWR, Woodbridge, Virginia, © 2020.
Each flower lasts but one day, hence the name. This species differs from the similar Asiatic Dayflower in that the lower stamens are curved inward. |
